Actors’ Education

Our mission is to provide actors of all experience levels a safe place to grow and strengthen their performing skills. We also encourage participants to become involved in all aspects of ATC, including assisting students with auditioning for shows, volunteering behind the scenes, and finding opportunities with other organizations in the Columbus theatre community.

SPRING CLASS – ACTING FOR ADULTS!

(Open to all adults and theatrical High School students)

April 29 – June 3

Sundays, noon – 2pm

$150 per student

Actors of all levels are invited! Each week will focus on a different theme. Graduates of the class will perform through the summer on Sunday evenings as a teaching tool and performance opportunity for all. All classes will feature performance games and acting exercises designed to help actors of all levels. Starting June 3 and throughout the season, some or all of the class will present scenes, select monologues, improv games and class created scenes. (Additional rehearsals may be needed.)

KIDS CAMPS

KIDS CAMP – MONSTERS! (Elementary)

June 25-29, 9am – noon with a performance Friday night

$150 (or two for $275)

Monsters are among us, and it’s up to our elementary campers to bring them to life! Campers will create a play featuring monsters and other scary creatures, in a light-hearted, fun-loving introduction to the world of theatre. Through dialogue from famous plays and television, our campers will tackle the scariest monster of all … a stage and a blank script! This camp concludes with a pre-show performance on June 29 prior to Frankenstein.

KIDS CAMP – FAIRY TALES COME TO LIFE (Elementary)

July 30 – August 3, 9am – noon with a performance Friday night

$150 (or two for $275)

Campers will perform stories based on their favorite fairy tales. Scripts will be chosen, rehearsed, memorized, costumed, and performed for all, in just one week! This camp is terrific for students who are new to theatre or who simply just love dressing up and pretending. Memorization is light, the acting is heavy. Have fun and hone your skills through a variety of games, and ultimately, put on a scripted play based on fairy tales through the ages. This camp concludes with a pre-show performance on August 3 prior to Puss in Boots.

PLAY CREATION (Grades 4 and up)

August 13-17, 9am – noon with a performance Friday night

$150 (or two for $275)

A brand new camp to end our summer camp season, focusing on creating a brand new play to be performed by week’s end. Create story through improv techniques, movement, camper favorite plays, movies, and shows. This camp concludes with a pre-show performance on August 17 prior to A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

TEENS / ADULTS CAMPS

IMPROV CAMP #1
(Grades 4 and up)

June 11-15, 9am – noon with a performance Friday night

$150 (or two for $275)

This camp features a full week of improvisation! Campers will learn improv games, as well as techniques fro scene creation, memorization, characterization, and more. Perfect for all ages and all skill levels. This camp is a great introduction to theatre, or can serve as a master class in the art of improv comedy and drama. This camp concludes with a pre-show performance on June 15 prior to Macbeth.

August 6-10, 9am – noon with a performance Friday night
